Signs Outlast the Things They Signify is a multi-media art project that includes photography, video, and text. The project reflects on Marseille, which functions as a gateway for many migrants to Europe; many of these migrants are deeply invested in the arts. This interest became a point of departure for a research-based project on Air-Bel and the surrealists as they continued their artistic practice while fleeing a Fascist regime during World War Two. Today, the Air-Bel site is a subsidized housing complex and the Le Jeu de Marseille is housed at musée Cantini. Signs Outlast the Things They Signify revisits Air-Bel, a text written by Andre Breton about his time in Marseille, and Le Jeu de Marseille to explore intersection of migration, architecture, modernism, art institutions and time.race, colonialism, migration, and modernism.
